The Brisbane South State Secondary College (BSSSC) Instrumental Music program encapsulates the vision for The Arts at BSSSC which is to engage, enhance and empower our students. Through a range of opportunities in and beyond the classroom, students will engage in individual and group learning, enhance their skills through performances, camps, workshops and competitions while becoming empowered by their development as young musicians.
The overarching purpose of the co-curricular Instrumental Music Program is to provide students with the opportunity to become musicians and experience the expressive qualities of music through learning to play a band or orchestral instrument and to participate in performance ensembles such as Concert bands and Orchestras.
The BSSSC Instrumental Music program is a comprehensive tuition program which provides students with the opportunity to learn a woodwind, brass, string or percussion instrument in addition to their timetabled subject selections. Students in the Instrumental Music Program have two contact times per week: one in a group instrumental lesson and one in an ensemble rehearsal.
