Brisbane South State Secondary College Sporting program endeavours to strengthen the connection between sport and physical activity and health and wellbeing, enabling our students to develop the foundations for an active, healthy life.

Brisbane South State Secondary College Intra School Sport

All students will engage in Intra-school Sport on a weekly basis (Inter-House Competition). This will be a regular timetabled lesson each Thursday and is in addition to Health and Physical Education lessons. Students will utilise facilities on school grounds and the University of Queensland (walked by staff). Once completed, Brisbane South SSC playing fields being developed at Rocklea will be utilised for sport training & competitions. Intra School Sport will be offered within the timetabled day, whilst sporting clubs and extracurricular activities will be offered before, during (lunches) and after school hours.

West Brisbane Secondary School Sport Association (WBSSSA)

All students have the opportunity to trial for Brisbane South State Secondary College sport team representation at West Brisbane Secondary Sport Association Competitions (1 Competition Gala Day per Term). Member schools of WBSSSA host sports at a variety of venues within the district. Brisbane South SSC will compete against schools within the Brisbane West SSA - Queensland Academy for Science, Mathematics and Technology (QASMT), Kenmore State High School, Corinda State High School, Indooroopilly State High School, Yeronga State High School and Centenary State High School. Association Champions then represent West Brisbane Association in the Metropolitan Finals, competing in the knock out competition against champion school across the metropolitan region.
