Our Vision
Brisbane South State Secondary College (Years 7 to 12), is one of Australia's newest state 'vertical' secondary schools, bringing a global outlook to integrated learning.
In collaboration with one of the world's top universities, The University of Queensland (UQ), the College is setting 'The New Standard' in education.
Located in the 'Knowledge Corridor,' the school provides real opportunities for our students, forming part of an innovation district that actively connects and creates bespoke programs with industry partners.

We strive to ensure students develop the skills to create their desired future by knowing who they are, how they connect, and how they will contribute to the world.
We do this by:
Challenging conventions - Committed to excellence and open to evolving, we are always looking to the latest to refine our education offer.
Collaborating with the best - We are strengthened by those around us - surrounded by the best and most respected research facilities and institutions in Australia, we will leave our mark on the world.
Thinking globally, acting locally - We are creating a proud community where our reach extends beyond our postcode to provide real international pathways.
Purpose of the Biomedical Science Academy
In collaboration with The University of Queensland (UQ), our Biomedical Science Academy will provide bespoke pathways in science, technology, engineering, mathematics and medical science STEM(M) to open new academic pathways and learning opportunities for our students.
Working closely with Australia's powerhouse of academics and researchers in STEM(M) — including UQ and our internationally connected neighbouring institutions — we will nurture the skills and confidence in our students to lead a new era in education to inspire positive change for a sustainable world.
The Biomedical Science Academy will provide a variety of enrichment and acceleration opportunities for students throughout both Junior Secondary and Senior Secondary phases of school, enabling them to not only keep pace in a new world, but move ahead in it with confidence and fulfilment.
Through the program, students will develop their 21st century skills including critical and creative thinking, problem-solving, communication and collaboration. They will also develop a rich understanding of the scientific method, safety and ethics, as well as an appreciation of the diverse range of careers in biomedicine.
As students progress through the academy from Year 7 to 12, they will:
