For the first time, Brisbane South State Secondary College is inviting external students in Years 8, 9 and 10 to apply for a place in our Biomedical Science Academy.
Applications are open to external students living both within and outside the Brisbane South State Secondary College catchment. There are very limited places.
Delivered in collaboration with The University of Queensland, the Biomedical Science Academy is a future-focused STEM(M) program designed for curious minds, aspiring change-makers and young people with a passion for science, medicine, research and innovation.
The Academy provides enrichment and acceleration opportunities that extend students’ learning beyond the classroom. Through authentic, real-world experiences, students can explore biomedical science, develop advanced scientific knowledge and strengthen essential skills including critical thinking, collaboration, curiosity, leadership and problem-solving.
Students may also gain exposure to advanced laboratory techniques, biomedical research and emerging technologies, including virtual, augmented and mixed reality and 3D printing. Connections with leading learning and research partners help students discover where a passion for science could take them and explore future pathways in medicine, health, research, technology and other STEM(M) fields.
Places are very limited, and interested students and families are encouraged to apply early.
Applications are now open and they close on 9 October 2026.
